L.U.C Tourbillon Tech Twist Watch The First L.U.C Tourbillon Movement With A Silicon Ratchet Device

Chopard realizes the dream of watch lovers: the first LUC watch is equipped with a silicon ratchet. This unique and avant-garde design was developed by Chopard Watchmaking. With its unique movement and two sets of dual stacked (coaxial) barrels, this watch perfectly showcases its high-quality technology and original design.

The ratchet mechanism and lever (a single version combined with a protection bolt and pawl stone) are made of silicon, which enables smooth operation without lubricant. Silicon is a form in which non-metals are also present in silicon (or in quartz sand), or as a silicate. As an important part of glass, it has been very popular in the watch industry because it is three times lighter than steel and completely magnetic. Its motherboard dial, bridge and some obvious movement parts are coated with black PVD, making the watch more attractive. The contrast between the dark part and the polished metal element gives a clear distinction.
The movement is called LUC 4TBSTSi (Quattro Twist-Quattro Twist Black Superlight Twist Silicium)-proudly elaborates its main features: in addition to having two sets of dual stack (coaxial) barrel PVD coated bridge and silicon ratchet, tourbillon is composed of an ultra-light aluminum alloy. It weighs only 0.4 grams, which is 33% lighter than a stainless steel case.
‘Twist’ means that the movement rotates clockwise 30 ° from the center, and the crown is therefore placed at 4 o’clock (instead of 3 o’clock). The design of the offset position makes the wrist very comfortable.
Equipped with dedicated LUC ‘Quattro’ ® technology, which includes two sets of dual stacked (coaxial) barrels, a proprietary mechanical manual winding movement LUC 4TBSTSi, and a power reserve of up to 9 days. And obtained the highly accurate Swiss COSC Swiss Observatory certification, to ensure its reliability and accuracy, the movement is also equipped with the Chopard patented Variner® fine hairspring balance function. With a 42mm diameter palladium case, the surface and bottom are equipped with strengthened sapphire crystal glass. This masterpiece is limited to 50 pieces.
